Discover Sarita A Restaurant

If you’ve ever cruised down Madison Avenue in Lakewood and caught the smell of fresh coffee and sizzling breakfast on the griddle, chances are you were near Sarita A Restaurant at 14523 Madison Ave, Lakewood, OH 44107, United States. I stopped in on a chilly Saturday morning after hearing locals rave about their homestyle cooking, and honestly, it felt less like trying a new diner and more like walking into a neighborhood staple that’s been feeding families for years.

The first thing that stands out is the atmosphere. It’s relaxed, welcoming, and unpretentious. Regulars greet the staff by name, and the servers move with the kind of efficiency that only comes from experience. According to the National Restaurant Association, diners consistently rank friendly service and consistency as two of the top factors influencing repeat visits. That tracks here. Within minutes of sitting down, I had coffee in hand and a clear rundown of the day’s specials.

The menu leans heavily into classic American comfort food. Think fluffy pancakes, crisp bacon, golden hash browns, stacked burgers, and hearty sandwiches. On my first visit, I ordered the country-style breakfast platter: eggs over medium, sausage links, toast, and home fries. The eggs were cooked exactly as requested, which sounds simple but requires precise timing and temperature control in the kitchen. In professional culinary practice, achieving consistent egg doneness depends on managing pan heat between 250°F and 275°F-too hot and the whites blister, too cool and they spread thin. Here, they nailed it.

On another visit, I tried their lunch offerings-a grilled chicken sandwich with a side salad. The chicken was juicy, not dry, and clearly marinated beforehand. Marination, as culinary science explains, enhances moisture retention and flavor diffusion through osmosis and protein breakdown. You could taste that extra step. It wasn’t just thrown on the grill; it was prepared thoughtfully.

Reviews from locals often mention generous portions, and I can confirm that’s accurate. Plates arrive full, and value for money is strong compared to many nearby dining spots. In Lakewood, where independent restaurants compete closely, pricing and portion size matter. This place balances both without sacrificing quality. Online customer reviews frequently highlight the breakfast specials as a must-try, especially for families and seniors looking for affordable, satisfying meals.

What also impressed me was the consistency. I spoke briefly with one of the staff members who explained that many ingredients are sourced from trusted regional suppliers. While I couldn’t independently verify every supplier, the emphasis on freshness is noticeable in the produce and baked goods. Food safety and ingredient quality are critical in the restaurant industry, and organizations like the FDA stress proper storage, handling, and sourcing practices to maintain standards. Based on taste and presentation alone, the kitchen appears to follow solid operational routines.

The dining room itself is straightforward-booths, tables, and counter seating. Nothing flashy, but clean and well-maintained. Cleanliness is one of those non-negotiables for diners. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention regularly emphasizes sanitation in food establishments to prevent foodborne illness. During my visits, tables were promptly wiped down, condiments were organized, and restrooms were tidy, which builds confidence as a customer.

Location plays a role too. Being right on Madison Avenue means easy access, whether you’re a Lakewood resident or driving in from Cleveland. Parking can get tight during peak brunch hours, so arriving a bit early helps. That’s probably the only small drawback I noticed.

If you’re scanning menus around town and debating where to grab a reliable breakfast or casual lunch, this spot deserves serious consideration. It’s not trying to reinvent dining trends or push gourmet experimentation. Instead, it focuses on doing the basics extremely well-hot coffee, fresh ingredients, friendly service, and meals that taste like someone actually cared when they made them.

  • Very lovely atmosphere, tasteful cuisine, and impeccable service. My friend and I had a bartender, Eric, and a fantastic waiter named Eric as well. Eric (waiter) Listed off the roughly 11 specials all from memory and these weren’t just regular items.. talking ostrich here! High praise for the staff! (And White chocolate banana cheesecake of course)

  • Really good food and cocktails! There is a bar area with several TVs, plus seating in two separate dining room areas. The outside patio is like a little oasis in the middle of Lakewood - it feels very private and enclosed. There were a ton of daily specials beyond the usual menu on the day we went. Drinks were well crafted and the presentation of the food was top notch. Overall great service.

  • A lot of interesting appetizers on the menu, so we stuck to just ordering a bunch of them. The almost raw ostrich breast was interesting. Nice outdoor seating area! Our server was amazing and was very knowledgeable about the menu and all the specials!

  • On Tuesday, December 27, 2025, my Mom, Husband and I were treated to a lovely dining experience at Serita, in which every aspect was first rate. Our waiter Nicholas was friendly, attentive, and made us feel as if we were old friends. He gave us great advice on dishes - his recommendation was the scallops - which my husband had, but he said the Halibut was the more popular. Mom and I got the Halibut - I've had it there several times - and it is the gooseberries in that dish that makes it for me, but, I did think Nicholas was correct - the scallops were cooked perfectly. We also had a couple rounds of drinks, and the icing on the cake was Michael who delivered our drinks - I was already looking forward to my cocktail - but his genuine enthusiasm as he gave each of us a different drink was SO REFRESHING! We had the brownie with caramel sauce for dessert and an order of donuts and ice cream to go. The meal was so good, but it was Nicholas and Michael that really made it an experience for us - Thank you both - since the pandemic - our dining experiences have been so lack luster. A lot of the food has been mid, and people just don't have the same vitality and humanity. It was a joy to eat great food and the privilege of service that made our time at Serita a delightful experience. Thanks Nicholas and Michael and Happy 2026 to both of you and all the staff at Serita!

  • Loved our dinner at Sarita! Cool buzzy restaurant in Lakewood with a large, diverse menu. Everything we ate was delicious. I tried 2 specials, the ostrich appetizer and saffron gnocchi with crab entree...loved both. Cocktails were good too. Service was great. Would definitely come back again.

  • Had a wonderful girls dinner here on a Saturday night! Want to shout out our server Eric also. He was awesome! Super friendly, made delicious recommendations for specials as well as drinks. He was also more than accommodating when we wanted to move our table to outside. We are glad we did because it was so cozy and pretty on the patio with the fire. We were there pretty late, we weren’t sure of what time close was, but Eric didn’t make us feel like a hassle or unwelcome. He even made us an after-dinner espresso martini himself when the bartender had shut down the espresso machine already (and it was delicious!) The only negative thing I have to say is that I booked a standard table online, as opposed to a high top. And the hostess initially sat us at a high top upon arrival. Other than that it was a great experience at sarita. We will be back! Thank you Eric!! :) (PSA: TIP YOUR SERVERS!!)
